NO NEW CASES THIS WEEK IN EBOLA NATIONS

Since the outbreak started in March 2015 which took over 11,000 lives in West Africa mainly in Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone; this week finally has good news for us, no new cases emerged!
Despite the cases have greatly declined, this outbreak still remains the worst epidemic Ebola ever known. Difficulty of diagnosis due to ineffective medical infrastructure has allowed it to kill five times more, and it’s more easily transmitted.
Regardless of the great news, World Health Organization (WHO) urges us to stay alert. One untreated case is all it needs for a new outbreak. On the bright side, WHO has declared Liberia Ebola free for 42 days. The time it takes for the virus to grow and develop symptoms is 21 days, so double the period should be enough to be sure the virus is gone. But, two months, later six cases emerged within the capital of Monrovia. The virus swiftly spread and within hours 140 people were infected.
Seems it’s going to take a while to get rid of this threat. As it seems its reservoir (insect-eating bats) is abundant, and it’s hard work providing the required medical care in these nations.
